Se sei un chitarrista che sceglie i migliori IEM per suonare la chitarra elettrica o acustica, ho quello che fa per te.

Sono un chitarrista da molto tempo. Ho iniziato a suonare Hey Joe di Jimi Hendrix per ore e ore seduto sul marciapiede fuori dal ritrovo giovanile locale. Si è passati a suonare davanti a piccoli locali fino a migliaia di persone in grandi sale e stadi.

Perché dovrebbe interessarti? Bene, non è necessario, ma posso dire che mi rende qualificato per consigliare monitor in-ear che saranno un ottimo abbinamento per il tuo modo di suonare la chitarra, questo e il fatto che possedevo un rivenditore di cuffie che vendeva IEM. Credimi, ho provato più IEM della maggior parte dei chitarristi che hanno cambiato le corde (leggera esagerazione ma sto davvero cercando di enfatizzare il mio punto qui).

Aspetti da considerare quando si scelgono IEM per chitarristi

Quando avevo circa 19 anni, Shure uscì con un microfono per strumenti, molto simile al BETA 98H/C che viene venduto da Shure oggi. Se cerco su Google abbastanza a lungo, sono sicuro che potrei trovare il numero di modello esatto.

Il discorso di vendita del mio amico del negozio di musica locale (in cui alla fine ho lavorato) era che la risposta in frequenza su questo microfono, rivolto a ottoni e strumenti a corda, era quasi esattamente la stessa di una risposta in frequenza di un amplificatore per chitarra. Perché raccontare quella storia? Bene, credo anche per esperienza che gli IEM per cantanti e chitarristi siano abbastanza vicini allo schema di frequenza delle cose. Vuoi una fascia bassa forte che non sopraffà, frequenze medie chiare e nitide che è dove si sta svolgendo la maggior parte del tuo lavoro e alcuni bei acuti, ma non così tanto la fascia alta da farti sentire affaticato suonando sul palco, o ovunque tu sia.

Capisco la necessità che i chitarristi utilizzino gli IEM, ma non sempre lo amo

Se sei un chitarrista acustico che suona da solo, la necessità di monitor in-ear non è importante quanto essere un chitarrista acustico che suona in una band più grande. Solo puoi avere un altoparlante pieghevole che porta un bel soundstage alle tue orecchie e questo è abbastanza.

Se stai suonando in una band, uno degli strumenti più difficili da ascoltare chiaramente in un foldback o monitor sul palco è la chitarra acustica. In questa situazione, è davvero meraviglioso avere dei monitor in-ear per sentirti al di sopra della batteria, del basso, dei tasti e del chitarrista elettrico che potrebbe essere nella band con te.

È anche comune per i cantanti suonare la chitarra, quindi avere un auricolare significa che puoi sentire chiaramente la tua chitarra acustica e la tua voce e, si spera, tu sia in grado di regolare il tuo mix personale per ottenere il miglior effetto.

Quando si tratta di una chitarra elettrica, tuttavia, comincio a lamentarmi per la mancanza di una relazione 1:1 con il tuo amplificatore sul palco . Ci sono alcuni motivi tipici per cui dovresti, o potresti essere costretto a usare i monitor in-ear come chitarrista.

Il primo è la protezione dell'udito. Non essere un eroe, proteggi il tuo udito. Stare di fronte a un muro di Vox AC30 potrebbe essere magico, ma se perdi l'udito, in qualche modo rovina tutto.

Il secondo il motivo potrebbe essere la mancanza di altoparlanti foldback da utilizzare. Ciò potrebbe essere dovuto alla mancanza di spazio sul palco o non si adattano al furgone della band per i concerti e quindi tutti voi avete IEM personali e un piccolo mixer portatile, o meno, per i mix foldback sul palco usando gli IEM. Ciò è supportato anche dal primo punto sopra:troppo volume e rumore sul palco.

Un terzo il motivo per cui i chitarristi sono costretti a utilizzare i monitor in-ear è il rumore del palco. Purtroppo, siamo spesso le persone più rumorose sul palco. Anche lo stack dei bassi è rumoroso, ma spesso viene DI'D o mixato attraverso il mix front-of-house.

Questo terzo motivo ha due parti:

non solo questo protegge l'udito delle altre persone sul palco con te, ad es. cantanti e tastieristi che hanno bisogno di ascoltare se stessi senza che il loro foldback sia incredibilmente alto per superare il volume del tuo amplificatore e...
evita anche che il mix front-of-house venga rovinato dal volume ambientale del palco, ad esempio se l'amplificatore per chitarra è troppo alto sul palco rende davvero difficile fare un buon mix front-of-house, anche se devi affrontare il tuo amplificatore per chitarra lateralmente o al contrario.

La gamma di opzioni IEM disponibili (inclusi i sistemi di monitoraggio personale)

Come tutte le cose nella vita, ci sono molti gradi di monitor in-ear disponibili. Molte società di eventi professionali, chiese e gruppi di comunità condividono i loro kit di monitoraggio in-ear in occasione di eventi, concerti e nei fine settimana.

Nota a margine:abbiamo anche un elenco delle migliori cuffie per amplificatori per chitarra se ti stai esercitando o registrando (o suonando dal vivo?) da qualche parte.

Se non possiedi i tuoi set di monitor in-ear, potresti ricevere un paio di base di IEM con punte in schiuma economiche che vengono cambiate per ogni servizio o evento per motivi igienici.

Questo è davvero conveniente e un modo semplice per gestire una linea condivisa e ogni cambio di banda (suppongo che i pacchetti trasmettitore e ricevitore siano inclusi anche per questo). Il problema è che non suonano molto bene, soprattutto per la chitarra acustica. È difficile godersi ciò che stai suonando quando sembra di suonare attraverso un walkman Sony del 1982.

Non entrerò nei dettagli dei migliori sistemi di monitoraggio in-ear, che includerebbero un trasmettitore e un ricevitore poiché si tratta di una conversazione diversa che merita maggiore attenzione. Ovviamente, non puoi avere monitor in-ear senza un sistema di monitoraggio trasmettitore/ricevitore, ma il mio obiettivo qui è concentrarmi su ciò che metti nelle orecchie per il miglior suono, non su come arriva il suono.

Ma già che siamo qui, qualcosa come lo Shure PSM 200 (purtroppo ora fuori produzione) o il sistema Shure PSM 300 sono un'ottima scelta. Questi ti permetteranno di utilizzare gli auricolari inclusi, ma se vuoi davvero salire di livello li cambierai con la tua attrezzatura.

Una volta passati dagli auricolari "condivisi" di base, puoi passare a articoli più convenienti, che sono almeno personali per te, e quindi a monitor in-ear universali più costosi fino alle opzioni personalizzate.

Considerazioni di base sulla scelta degli auricolari per chitarristi

Alcune considerazioni fondamentali quando si scelgono gli auricolari per il proprio lavoro con la chitarra includono:

Risposta in frequenza – vuoi avere una diffusione di frequenza sufficiente che senti ancora e ascoltare quello che stai facendo. Se non lo senti, allora è difficile giocare con passione. Mi concentrerò su frequenze medie forti e una risposta sui bassi sufficiente per ottenere un po' di punch (soprattutto se stai mixando cassa e rullante per il tempismo).
Prezzo – sì, potrebbe sembrare ovvio ma se sei solo un giocatore poco frequente allora forse non vale la pena spendere una fortuna. D'altra parte, se scegli un bel set di IEM, sono anche eccellenti per l'ascolto della tua musica personale quando non stai giocando, ad esempio mentre ti muovi, ti rilassi a casa, corri e fai fitness ecc.
Isolamento acustico – se hai scelto gli auricolari universali, allora vuoi scegliere le punte giuste. Personalmente, si desidera utilizzare punte in schiuma, non punte in silicone, poiché offrono il miglior isolamento e la migliore risposta di fascia bassa (bassi). Se stai utilizzando oggetti personalizzati, non avrai bisogno di suggerimenti e avrai un ottimo isolamento acustico per impostazione predefinita.

non posso mentire. Ci sono alcuni IEM intorno a questo prezzo che sono anche straordinari per il lavoro con la chitarra, ma il primo motivo per cui sono entrati nella lista è... l'aspetto piacevole nella finitura marrone/trasparente. E se vuoi qualcosa che abbia un bell'aspetto ma sia disponibile anche in diversi colori, allora è una buona scelta.

Ci sono due versioni cablate in marrone e rosso/blu. Questi utilizzano una connessione via cavo MMCX standard. Il vantaggio di questo è che puoi sempre sostituire il cavo mmcx se è danneggiato, vuoi aumentare di livello la qualità o hai bisogno di un cambio del cavo da 2,5 mm o 3,5 mm perché il tuo trasmettitore wireless ha quell'ingresso jack.

Questi BASN sono disponibili anche in due opzioni di cavo Bluetooth che è un cavo di tipo Bluetooth intorno al collo. Personalmente, questa è un'ottima scelta se stavi solo cercando un IEM per pendolari, ma se hai intenzione di usarli dal vivo mentre suoni la chitarra o in studio, non lo sceglierei.

È molto meglio utilizzare un cavo cablato per una migliore affidabilità e utilizzare un adeguato sistema di monitoraggio wireless. La firma del suono non esercita pressione su una specifica frequenza del suono e la presentazione generale è nitida e chiara. Questo è molto importante poiché per gli IEM di musica dal vivo non vuoi monitor in-ear scolpiti con più bassi o alti ecc.

Il cavo MMCX ti consente di cambiare i cavi a tuo piacimento e per il prezzo sono superiori al loro peso.

2:monitor in-ear Sennheiser IE 40 PRO per chitarristi

Cavo/Driver: Driver interno condotto/dinamico da 10 mm

Il nome Sennheiser è più spesso associato a cuffie audiofile e auricolari davvero costosi. Il mio sospetto è che aziende come Shure abbiano da tempo dominato la scena degli auricolari in-ear con musica dal vivo e Sennheiser sapeva che c'erano opportunità in quello spazio.

Quindi, hanno lanciato la gamma IE (da non confondere con la gamma audio-technica ath-xxx nell'aspetto) e hanno fatto un buon lavoro.

L'IE-40 è un auricolare con driver dinamico da 10 mm con un ottimo palcoscenico sonoro per il lavoro con la chitarra. Hanno un bell'aspetto e il prezzo è molto conveniente per possedere un pezzo di Sennheiser.

La mia unica preoccupazione con l'IE-40 è l'attacco del cavo del condotto interno proprietario. Puoi ottenere cavi sostitutivi per questo, ma in realtà non hai opzioni per cavi di terze parti.

3:Shure SE215 in-ear monitors for guitar

Cable/Drivers: MMCX/Dynamic Driver

If you’ve ever read any post I’ve ever done on IEMs you’ll know that at some point the Shure SE215 is going to come up in it. They are one of the older units on the market these days but they are also one of the most road-tested and all-round great sounding affordable in-ear monitors on the market.

I’ve owned 2 pairs and the current pair I own have lasted me years. A single dynamic driver produces a really strong, crisp sound with quite a strong bottom end. I think what drew me to these originally was even the guitar sounds (and vocals) they products from recorded music sounded great to me.

The retail kit is generous with multiple tips and a cleaning tool. There is a nice semi-hard case included for the price with adds real value for money.

An MMCX cable connection allowing for upgrades and replacements plus the option to get Shure Bluetooth cables like the Shure BT2 Bluetooth MMCX cable.

Why we chose the Shure SE215 in-ear monitors?

Shure quality that I can vouch for. Nice bottom end and crisp mids and highs. A sound signature that makes guitar sound really nice, especially for the price.

4:CCA C16 in-Ear Monitors

Cable/Drivers: MMCX/8 BA drivers

Frequency Response: 7 – 40,000 Hz

The CCA C12 in-ear monitors made it in to our budget IEMs list for this year but the C16 are a great step up in drivers with a small increase in price. The multiple driver configuration and sound profile are really surprising value for money.

CCA is a brand from Linsoul who make a huge range of affordable in-ear monitors including brands like DUNU, KZ and CCA. They also make a great range of MMCX and 2 PIN replacement cables.

The CC16 have 8 Balance Armature drivers (BA) in each iem earbud. This iem for a little over a C-note is crazy value for money. Having multiple BA drivers allows the manufacturer of in-ears to dedicate different drivers to different frequencies, similar to a floor standing speaker on your HiFi where you have a bass speaker and a tweeter for the high end.

The CC16 has 2 drivers tuned for deeper bass, 4 drivers tuned for mid frequencies and 2 for treble/high end. The result is a massive amount of sound and frequency in an affordable unit.

The CCA CC16 does come with two cable options. One has an inline microphone and one doesn’t. There is no reason to get the inline microphone version and create a break in the sound conduction. Just go with the non-microphone version and buy a separate cable if you want to use them for commuting and gereral music listening on your phone, if you want to take phone calls.

Why we chose the CCA C16 in-Ear Monitors?

Value for money gets the CCA C16 on this guitar iem list, as does the quality of its BA drivers and cables.

There are few IEM manufacturers in the world pushing out such affordable units with so many drivers.

Personally, I expect something like the IE 40 or SE215-CL will have a longer life and fit a little nicer in the ear, but you should at least commit to owning a multiple BA drive IEM once in your life. I’m not I’d recommend these for a serious tour. It’s awful having physically sore ears (not sore eardrums) from playing every night with ill fitting IEMs.

My Heir Audio 8.0 custom in-ear monitors (CIEM) have 8 x BA drivers per ear and they cost me $1200. While the tuning is superb, its worth noting the price difference, and yet the same number of drivers.

So, if you want to hear the bottom end, mids and high end in powerful force without spending a fortune then check out the C16.

Summary: I am always amazed at what Linsoul can cram in to their IEMs while still maintaining a ridiculously low price. These definitely deserve serious consideration. While others on this list might survive the rigours of live playing for a longer time and be a bit more comfortable, these will give you a good time and if only for a shorter time.

5:Westone UM Pro 30 in-ear monitors – great for acoustic playing

Made in Colorado Springs USA I’ve always felt Westone don’t get the attention they deserve. Having a huge and long running pedigree in making in-ear monitors, and other hearing protection and aid devices they make really great sounding kit. The UM Pro 30 iem is no exception to this.

I own nearly all the Westone UM Pro and W series.

There are 3 x BA drivers. 1 for bass, 1 for mids and 1 for highs (treble). The sound signature is clean and balanced but not boring. It’s almost as close to open ear listening as I can describe.

The come with a great selection of ear foams and silicon ear tips (5 pairs of each) as well as a quality case, cleaning tool and MMCX twisted cable. All Westone units come with a 2 year warranty.

Why we chose the Westone UM Pro 30 in-ear monitors ?

The Westone UM Pro 30 have a really nice neutral tuning to them. Almost the same way Beyerdynamic do with the studio monitoring headphones like the DT 1990 Pro and DT 770 Pro. They don’t alter the sound of what you’re playing but they make sure you hear all the rich tone and beauty of your guitar.

I love the way they present the tones of acoustic guitar. It’s one of the nicest tunings for acoustic in my opinion.

6:64 Audio A2e Custom in-ear monitors

Cable/Drivers: 2 BA drivers

Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 18 kHz

64 Audio have a solid history of producing great sounding in-ear monitors for musicians so it’s easy to include them in the list. These are a custom in-ear monitor so you will need to get custom molds done.

While they don’t have the age of UE, JH Audio or Westone, they have innovated in many ways that has pushed the industry forward.

The jury is out for some with their apex technology as it offers a release for ear pressure in the IEM. Some believe it is this pressure that creates the impact and bass production. Regardless, I think this is a great addition for musicians, especially guitarists and the quality of the sound speaker for itself.

These are easily driven at 30 ohms and have a passive 2-way crossover.

The balance armature driver configuration is 1 dedicated to high end frequencies and the second BA driver is commited to the mids and lows.

If the 2 driver model isn’t enough for you then they offer more in their range up to 18 drivers per ear, but these will set you back around $2999 so if you have the cash, you can step up through the range depending on your budget.

Why we chose the 64 Audio A2e Custom iem ?

As the starting unit, these have sufficient frequency response and impact to really compliment your guitar playing. You can upgrade to higher models but if you are starting out then even this price will still make a dent in your wallet.

While you have to get custom in-ear molds done the result from their 3D printing technology makes for an excellent fit which is special just for you.

They are a really attractive and the included accessories including cleaning tool, case, dehumidifier and more increase the value of the package.
