Il miglior cavo XLR non deve essere per forza il più costoso
Posso parlare per esperienza qui perché utilizzo cavi XLR per altoparlanti, microfoni e registrazione da oltre 20 anni. Ne ho 3 seduti nella scatola accanto a me e devo confessare che alcuni erano acquisti economici che sono tornati a mordermi dopo pochissimo utilizzo.
I Mogami sono sviluppati a Nagano, in Giappone. Un paese noto per la sua incredibile produzione HiFI e Audio.
Ci sono alcune cose che dovresti considerare quando cerchi i migliori cavi xlr, ma non tutti avrai il controllo. Ad esempio, non sarai in grado di ispezionare la schermatura interna per sapere quanto è buona o la qualità del cablaggio e delle terminazioni nelle spine a meno che tu non scelga di costruirne una da solo.
Ho acquistato cavi che sono durati circa 3 giga e sono morti senza troppi abusi, ma ho anche acquistato cavi xlr economici che sono durati anni.

Alcune cose che vorrai cercare includono:
- Flessibile – i cavi troppo rigidi possono spesso finire per rompersi internamente se li stai mettendo alla prova. Questa è solo la mia esperienza parlando qui. Idealmente, desideri un cavo che consenta un buon movimento e una morbidezza che ti consenta di spostare il cavo in diverse posizioni secondo necessità.
- Lunghezza – ovvio da dire, ma considera le tue esigenze future oltre a quelle attuali. Non hai bisogno che sia follemente lungo a meno che tu non lo stia trasmettendo agli altoparlanti sul retro di un auditorium o di una sala conferenze. Se lo usi solo nel tuo studio di casa, per la tua attrezzatura HiFi o per un microfono, non hai bisogno di niente di troppo lungo. Se hai mai organizzato una conferenza, cosa che ho molte volte, è incredibile quanto tempo puoi ottenere queste cose.
- OFC – come tutti i cavi che copriamo, compresi i cavi mmcx o i cavi a 2 pin per le cuffie, i cavi OFC sono il nucleo e il tipo più comune di nucleo del cavo. - Cavo XLR bilanciato – un cavo bilanciato è uno che ha 3 fili o fili attraverso di esso. Due portano un segnale identico (caldo e freddo o polarità positiva e polarità negativa) e il terzo è un filo di terra che aiuta a schermare gli altri due fili dalle interferenze elettriche esterne. Balanced è la scelta migliore soprattutto sulle lunghezze più lunghe.
- Connettori per cavi – in genere avrai solo bisogno di un cavo XLR maschio-femmina, ma controlla per assicurarti che sia effettivamente quello di cui hai bisogno. Se stai utilizzando un cavo XLR da un banco di monitoraggio a un microfono, uno strumento o un altoparlante, in genere avrai solo bisogno di una connessione da femmina a maschio. Why do they say it’s a Pro XLR cable? Well it does have gold plated XLR pins which are purported to have premium sound transference. The connectors are metal and black coated but we can imagine the colour not lasting if you’re using these in heavy use situations. They will last well if you’re plugging them into a more permanent set up like a home or professional studio.
Why we chose the Cable Matters Premium XLR Cable?
The price for a two-pack of XLR cables that will suit most home studio and mobile applications is too hard to go past. While they might not be super high-end these cables will suit most uses for most people.
While I might not recommend these for high-end use, they are sufficient with a decent build-quality and the gold tips are a nice touch. I like the black finish which has a nice look to it.

The connectors have a retro but functional metal spring connector at the base of the steel plugs. This acts to reduce the wear and tear of the cable where it meets the connectors.
This unit has gold contacts for better transference. The outer cable is a nylon braid which provides increased strength and toughness. Unlike rubber/plastic outer sleeves the braided nylon is a little like a strong rope.
The inner shielding is copper spiral shielding.

So, since we covered the Mogami, which has such a premium reputation, it only seems fitting that we highlight this XLR Best Buy cable which also sits in the premium range. If you want a braided cable with a nice set of connectors with copper conducive cabling, this is a good choice.
I’m not going to lie, the description on this product is layered with ‘tech talk’ to blind you with its awesomeness but you don’t need to understand it all.
It’s a great looking cable in a black brown finish and a braided external cover which is actually surprising in the brown/black finish.

The finish and connectors on this cable feel really high end. Brown might not be your color but if you’re using this at home as a long patch cable or for studio use then color is less important.

Each cable suits common audio needs including connecting microphones, outdoor speakers, audio racks, studio speakers, mixers, preamps etc.
